SUMMARY:Solr Workshop
DESCRIPTION:TRLN’s Genia Kazymova is hosting a Solr workshop that seeks to help library staff query our shared Solr index to export data for more nuanced analysis. Solr is the non-relational database that hosts the shared index that populates the institutional library catalogs. \n\n\n\nThis workshop is designed for anyone who is interested in querying the Solr index to learn about TRLN collections. No prior knowledge of Solr is required. Participants are expected to have basic knowledge of the library catalog\, its content\, and search fields.  \n\n\n\nThe same workshop will be offered twice: Tuesday\, March 15 at 2:00\, and Friday\, March 18\, at 10:30. \n\n\n\nRegister (for either date) at this link. \n\n\n\nYou will receive confirmation of registration and a Zoom link for the workshop you select. Registration will be capped at 25 participants per session. \n\n\n\nTo help design the workshop to meet participant needs\, Genia welcomes input from registrants on their learning goals. Generally\, the workshop will address these topics: \n\n\n\nAccessing the Solr index for querying (via Solr admin or URL)https://solr.apache.org/guide/6_6/query-screen.html#query-screen MARC -> Argot -> SolrTRLN ingest applicationIntroduction to Solr parametersHow to find the IDs of all records in the indexFor example\, I want to find all IDs (records) for NCCU and save them locallySearch by OCLC numberSearch by languageFor example\, I want to find the number of documents in Arabic shared across TRLNSearch by notesFor example\, I want to find all the Solr documents that have the note “From the private library of Naum Korzhavin.”Facets in Solr (https://solr.apache.org/guide/6_6/faceting.html) \n\n\n\nNote: this workshop will overlap heavily with the Solr workshop that Genia offered in October 2021 for technical services staff. Participants from the October workshop are welcomed to register\, but keep in mind that most of the content will be familiar.

SUMMARY:Employee TRLN Orientation
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to attend a virtual employee TRLN orientation! This event will be held via Zoom. \n\n\n\nRegister to receive the meeting link and additional information at https://duke.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJclfuGsqD8oGNDozUd96fP6p0n95g21Uff9. \n\n\n\nThis orientation will include an open question session on TRLN IDEA funding. While this orientation is designed for “new” employees\, we welcome participation by anyone who works in a TRLN library and who might want a refresher. It is a fun and informal introduction to the people\, priorities\, and activities of the consortium. Attendees will learn about the services that TRLN provides and learn about ways to get involved in numerous areas of collaboration. This is an excellent opportunity to build connections with a community beyond your home library and institution.
