The first event will feature Justin Tinsley to discuss his book It Was All a Dream: Biggie and the World That Made Him. \n\n\n\nJustin Tinsley is a senior sports and culture reporter with ESPN’s The Undefeated. In his six years with the company\, Tinsley has written thought-provoking commentary and journalism on a range of subjects including Marvin Gaye\, Malcom X\, James Baldwin\, Serena Williams\, Kendrick Lamar\, and Cardi B\, with a focus on the intersection of sports\, race\, and culture. He is a regular panelist on ESPN’s daily sports debate talk show Around the Horn and is currently working on a multi-episode 30 for 30 podcast\, The King of Crenshaw\, on the late rapper\, entrepreneur\, philanthropist and activist Nipsey Hussle\, scheduled for a summer 2021 release. A graduate of Hampton University and Georgetown University\, he lives in Washington\, D.C.

Her research is committed to anti-colonial\, anti-racist\, and anti-ableist praxis\, and is informed by transnational feminism\, the study of subjugated knowledges\, and posthumanism\, among others. She is an Assistant Professor of disability studies at Miami University\, where she advances Disability Justice in the classroom and across campus. Her work as an educator blends critical pedagogy\, research\, and activism\, building on the knowledge of historically marginalized communities. Sara has received numerous recognitions for her community-based work and transnational contributions to the Neurodiversity Movement. She is currently leading a research project on neurodivergent culture\, activism\, and autonomous forms of governance funded by the Ford Foundation’s Disability Rights Program.  \n\n\n\nSara will be starting a Distinguished Visiting Scholar position at the University of Buffalo in the Fall semester of 2023\, where she will share her critical disability studies expertise with the UB community along a cohort of talented scholars\, artists\, and community practitioners working to create more sustainable\, fair\, and socially just futures for all. \n\n\n\nSara served a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the Society for Disability Studies; her leadership was instrumental in developing the organization’s fifteen guiding principles. Knox\, PhD\, MSLIS\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nEmily is an associate professor in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research interests include information access and intellectual freedom and censorship. She is a member of the Mapping Information Access research team. \n\n\n\nHer most recent book Foundations of Intellectual Freedom (ALA Neal-Schuman) won the 2023 Eli M. Oboler Prize for best published work in the area of intellectual freedom. Her previous book\, Book Banning in 21st Century America (Rowman & Littlefield) is the first monograph in the Beta Phi Mu Scholars’ Series. Emily’s articles have been published in the Library Quarterly\, Library and Information Science Research\, and the Journal of Intellectual Freedom and Privacy. \n\n\n\nEmily serves on the board of the National Coalition Against Censorship.
