DESCRIPTION:You are invited to attend TRLN Employee Orientation! While this orientation is designed for “new” employees\, we welcome participation by anyone who works in a TRLN library and who might want a refresher. It is a fun and informal introduction to the people\, priorities\, and activities of the consortium. Attendees will have time to network with colleagues from other institutions\, learn about the services that TRLN provides\, and learn about ways to get involved in numerous areas of collaboration. \nDates\, location\, and registration link are below. DESCRIPTION:Join TRLN for a screening of Change the Subject on January 30\, 2020\, from 2:00-4:00pm at Carolina Theatre\, Cinema One in downtown Durham. Free popcorn included! \nAbout the Film\nChange the Subject is a documentary film that tells the story of a group of college students who\, from their first days at Dartmouth College\, were committed to advancing and promoting the rights and dignity of undocumented peoples. In partnership with staff at Dartmouth\, these students – now alumni – produced a film to capture their singular effort at confronting an instance of anti-immigrant sentiment in their library catalog. Their advocacy took them all the way from Baker-Berry Library to the halls of Congress\, showing how an instance of campus activism entered the national spotlight\, and how a cataloging term became a flashpoint in the immigration debate on Capitol Hill. \nPanel Discussion and Q&A\nAfter the film screening\, a panel discussion and Q&A with local colleagues will be held.
